You might have noticed that I missed my normal publication day/time this week. That’s because I was on vacation! My husband and I took a wonderful trip to San Juan, PR for a week. The picture above was my view from a beach chair and umbrella as I read one of my favorite series, Cradle, by Will Wight, and pondered what I wanted BSE to become.
It’s hard to really think critically about where you want something like this to go when you are holding down the day job, writing weekly, and sourcing topics for future work. The space to just think about my Substack, what I want it to be, and where I want it to go was valuable.
So let me start with a question - I love the pithiness and punniness of Byte-Sized Ethics, but I wonder if it doesn’t give the wrong impression about the size and depth of what I want to cover. Do you like the name Byte-Sized Ethics, or should I rethink the name?
The time away gave me time to think about the types of things I want to write about, and I’ve come up with a few things to try to see what resonates with me, but also with you all, my readers. All in all, I’m reminded of the value and power of stopping now and then to check in not just on my own wellbeing, but also on my professional wellbeing. If you have the option to pause and reflect for a week, a day, an hour, or even just 5 minutes, I highly recommend you take it. It will be time well spent, no matter how long you can give.
That’s it for this week friends—not long, but I wanted to ask the question about the name and get something out this week, even if it's not a long-form piece. I’ll be back to my regularly scheduled programming next week.
Till then - I hope everyone has a fantastic week. Cheers!
Glad you enjoyed your trip!
